Historical Information

previous hit Warren  next hit previous hit County  next hit was named for Joseph previous hit Warren  next hit, the revolutionary patriot who sent Paul Revere and William Dawes on their famous rides and who was killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill. The previous hit county  next hit was formed from Frederick and Shenandoah previous hit counties  next hit in 1836.

Special officers have been appointed specifically to oversee general elections since 1831; these have included registrars, commissioners of elections, election judges and clerks. The election law of 1884 created electoral boards, which have since appointed all other election officials. The electoral boards and registrars are the recording agents of the election machinery.
